Vision Direct turns fishing nets into stylish eyewear that make a fashion statement. The company helped WWF x Arise Collective to upcycle 600-metre nets from the Great Barrier Reef, saving many marine creatures in the process.
As an effort in its retail roll-out and global brand strategy, Vision Direct prioritises people, culture and data as the brand goes omnichannel. The aim is to diversify its portfolio and open new business streams including distribution to other retail players.
Vision Direct CEO David Menning stated that upcycling old nets are another way to give back to the community and unlock “a circular economy in eyewear”.
“We’re benefiting the environment by taking discarded materials that damage wildlife and creating something sustainable and worthwhile,” he said.
