Asian Fit Ray-Ban Sunglasses

Ray-Ban Asian Fit Sunglasses

Asian Fit Sunglasses are eyeglasses designed specifically for a face shape with a lower nose bridge, higher cheekbones and a wider face. It’s not exclusively for Asians, but for anyone with a low nose bridge. Ray Ban Asian Fit sunglasses have delightful design modifications as compared to most eyewear brands which we’ll explore in more detail further on.

You need Asian Fit sunglasses if:

Your face shape is as follows-

  • You have high cheekbones,
  • You have a low nose bridge,
  • Your face width is the same as your face length,
  • Your sunnies often slide down your nose.

You face these issues with regular sunglasses-

  • Your sunnies rest on your cheeks, leaving you with a cheek rash,
  • Your glasses move around when you laugh or smile,
  • The lenses on your sunnies brush against your eyelashes,
  • The frame arms of your sunnies feel narrow at the sides of your head,
  • Your lenses often fog up

If your face shape resembles the above-mentioned type, you’ll find that Asian Fit sunglasses are far more comfortable.

About Ray Ban Sunglasses

In the 1930s, Ray-Ban found its footing through the military world. The mid-1930s were characterised by the rapid development in military technology, enabling aircrafts to reach higher altitudes and higher velocities. But with these high altitudes came the trouble of glaring sun rays, leading to distraction, nausea and headaches. In 1937, optical geniuses Bausch & Laumb were commissioned by the US Army Air Corps to design a pair of eyeglasses which would help ease pilots of these issues. Hence, a prototype was manufactured for military pilots with lightweight plastic frames and green plastic lenses that “banned” the harsh glares of the sun without compromising on the pilot’s visibility. After these were made available for the public in a metal frame, these sunglasses were christened as “Ray-Ban Aviators” in 1938.

Ray-Ban went on to gain increased popularity through World War II, continuing to supply the US and Allied Military Forces with eyewear. They continued to innovate by releasing special features such as impact-resistant lenses, gradient mirrors for pilots to easily see their control panels through the lower portion of the lenses.

In 1952, Ray-Ban introduced what went on to be their most popular design of all time, the Wayfarer. This design featured thicker plastic frames with smaller lenses than the Aviator. As more and more celebrities started to wear them, their popularity blew up and everyone was wearing Ray-Ban Wayfarers- it truly became a household name.

Ray-Ban cemented its name in pop culture however didn’t stop there. It has always been at the forefront of innovation, with functional design such as mountaineering sunglasses with leather side-shields or lenses which change colours to adapt to varying light conditions.

What is the Ray Ban Asian fit difference?

  • Reduced pantoscopic angle- this helps ensure that your sunglasses don’t press against your cheekbones, nor leave marks,
  • Longer and more curved temples- this is designed to suit the above mentioned facial characteristics better,
  • Decreased front curvature- this makes the sunglasses fit the head better and more comfortably,
  • Longer & curved nose pads- to fit the nose snugly and have your sunnies sit higher on the face instead of resting on the cheeks
  • Ray Ban Asian fit or low bridge fitting sunglasses also have adjustable nose pads for you to be able to make your frame fit perfectly.

So, now we have established that Ray Ban's Asian Fit sunglasses are custom made for those individuals with high cheekbones and low nose bridges. If finding a stylish and facial defining frame that is also comfortable on your face is hard, then Ray-Ban has an innovative solution for you. Where traditional glasses may slide down your nose, Ray Ban Asian Fit is inclusive in terms of fashion, so that you too can enjoy a range of styles and frames.

The Asian Fit curvature adjusts according to your face, offering the user a comfortable designer sunglasses frame. The regular fit might be uncomfortable, but this design is hip and chic. A slight adjustment of the classic Ray-Ban structure provides you with a luxurious and dapper frame.
