Prada Returns: The Ornate Collection
When you hear the word “Prada” what comes to mind? Runway? High-fashion? Elegance? Prestige?
For me, I think of the 2006 Hollywood movie “The Devil Wears Prada”. This movie happens to be one of my all-time favorites, not only because it is bold and hilarious, but because it really opened my eyes as to how these big designer brands influence the complex and ever-changing world of fashion. Not to mention, you’ve just got to love the amazing performance of Anne Hathaway together with Meryl Streep!
But actually, the story and influence of Prada goes way back. Since 1913, the Prada family has held a powerful presence within the high-end realms of fashion. Founder Mario Prada opened the first Prada store on the streets of Milan to provide ready-to-wear leather goods for upper-income families. However, it wasn’t until his granddaughter Miuccia Prada took control of the family business in 1978 that resulted in the success of the prestigious Prada brand that we all know today.
Miuccia applied her design intellect and sensitive creativity to create revolutionary designs, such as the famous black nylon backpack and classic Prada handbags, which are still considered masterpieces to this day. Prada now has boutiques located all around the world to sell their sought after luxury products, particularly their unique collection of sunglasses.
Prada eyewear is famous for its affinity with art and creative influences. In fact, Miuccia draws a lot of her inspiration for the Prada eyewear line from other famous Prada designs. For example, the latest Prada eyewear collection is the fabulous Ornate Collection, which was actually inspired by the designs of some of Prada’s most beloved creations – such as Prada jewelry collections, Saffiano leather handbags and Prada Rich Decors items.
Another recent introduction is Prada’s geometric shaped sunglasses. A creative take on a modern trend, Prada has captured the attention of many fashion-elites with these new designs. The Cinema sunglasses are a great example of this cool, new look with their triangular cat-eye frames.
As for celebrity preference, the Minimal Baroque sunglasses are some of the most iconic and popular among the Hollywood Boulevard stars. In fact, Paris Hilton, Mary-Kate Olsen, Beyonce and Rihanna have all been spotted with their own pair of Minimal Baroque Prada sunglasses. Michael Phelps has also been seen wearing some sporty Prada Linea Rossa sunglasses every so often.
