How to set up Afterpay:

To use Afterpay, all you need is to be at least 18 years of age, living in Australia and carry an Australian Visa or Mastercard debit or credit card. You must also have a working mobile phone to confirm your account.

How Does Afterpay Work?

Pay for your purchase over 4 equal installments, due every two weeks. You’ll pay your first installment at the time of purchase and the remainder over time. If you’ve used Afterpay before, that’s it. You don’t have to make an immediate payment, and the payments will be automatically deducted in four equal amounts, every two weeks. If this is the first time you’re using it, you’ll be required to make one of the four payments immediately and then one every two weeks after.

Afterpay accepts only domestic Australian debit & credit cards and AMEX. There are two fundamental ways to pay with cards:

The most convenient is their automatic payments system. Simply download the Afterpay App from Apple App Store or Google Play, enter the details of your preferred payment card under the “Add a payment method” in the “Billings” section of “My Account”. Afterpay will notify you beforehand so that you can make sure that there’s enough in your account to pay that instalment.

The other option is to always pay on time or early by selecting the PAY NOW button on the App or online in your account. You can then enter your card details manually. If you want to make this your preferred payment method, select “Store my card”, otherwise make sure to untick this option before logging out.

With Afterpay, you can even change the due date of a payment by yourself using the Afterpay app. You can only move one payment per order. New users for whom it’s been less than 42 days since their first purchase won’t be able to avail this feature.

Another exciting new feature is that you can pay less than the full instalment amount. Simply log in to your account on afterpay.com, go into your payments schedule and view your order.

Can I Get A Refund On An Afterpay Purchase?

Yes, full and partial refunds are available on sunglasses Afterpay and glasses Afterpay purchases. Keep in mind you may be charged for the item by Afterpay if the refund has not been processed by the retailer yet. However, you will be refunded for any payments. To receive your refund, contact us so we can notify Afterpay once we’ve received your item back.

What Happens If You Don’t Pay Afterpay?

Afterpay is always zero interest, and there are never additional fees when you pay on time. The only fees are for late payments. Your payment schedule will be emailed to you along with notifications so there are no surprises. You can also use the Afterpay app to keep track of your upcoming payments.

If a payment is unsuccessful, you will be notified and you will have a chance to log in and choose a different payment method. If you don’t, you’ll be charged a $10 late fee. If you fail to make a payment within seven days, you’ll be charged a further $7. For each Afterpay order you can be charged a maximum of one $10 late fee per order. For any order that’s $40 or above, you can be charged late fees that total 25% of the original order or a maximum of $68, whichever is higher.

If you fail to make repayments, Afterpay holds the right to report it to a credit reporting bureau, such as Experian.

Does Afterpay Check Credit?

No. You’ll be automatically approved as long as you’re 18 and have a working credit or debit card.

The spending limit varies customer by customer. The more you use Afterpay and pay for your purchase successfully, the more you’ll be able to spend. Each time you make a purchase with Afterpay, it makes a fresh decision about your spending limit, so there’s always room for growth.

Is Afterpay Safe?

In terms of your information, Afterpay is a PCI DSS Level 1 certified compliant Service Provider organisation. This means that it abides by the comprehensive set of requirements to keep your data secure.
